Then ripped Garda's jacket...

A Shankill woman who failed to pay a taxi fare and damaged a Garda's jacket was convicted when she appeared before Bray District Court last Friday.

Sinead Moran, 64 Rathsallagh Park, Shankill, was arrested after she refused to pay a €150 taxi fare on November 25 last at Lower road, Shankill.  When the Gardai were called, Moran, who was in a drunken state, became abusive and ripped an officer's jacket.

Moran had paid €120 to the court last week, and handed over another €30 for the remainder of the taxi fare and €20 for the damaged jacket.

The court was told that she had an appointment that afternoon with Bray Community Addiction Team to address her alcohol problem.

Judge Bridget Reilly convicted and fined Moran €100 for criminal damage, €200 for being drunk in public and took a charge of threatening behaviour into consideration.
